Amethyst (Raw)

Amethyst is purple quartz, colored by iron and natural irradiation. In raw form the crystals keep their original geometry and matrix: terminated points, clustered druzy, or freshly broken shards, without the softening of polish. The name comes from the Greek amethystos, "not drunk," after an old tradition of wearing the stone as protection against excess.

Form varies: small clusters, druzy plates, terminated points, or broken shards showing the internal crystal geometry.
