Obsidian is naturally formed volcanic glass: lava cooled so quickly that no crystal structure had time to form. Each tumbled piece is polished from raw volcanic stone. (This listing is for plain black obsidian; gold sheen, snowflake, and mahogany varieties are listed separately.)

Meaning & Properties

Obsidian protects. It creates a kind of force field around the body, and you feel more vibrant, more present, as the stone magnetically pulls toxic or heavier energies out of the system. Some stones go deeper in, some pull more; obsidian does both. A strong stone, not a gentle one. Chosen by people ready to see what they have not wanted to see, and to let the self-clearing process fully transform what surfaces.

Care

Cleanse by moonlight, sound, or on a selenite slab. Safe to rinse briefly in water.
